Life Is A Cabaret

My birthday is in early January and this year, my wife bought me tickets to see Eddie Redmayne and Jessie Buckley in Cabaret.

Pricey, it’s true…and it wasn’t even a combined Christmas and Birthday present!

It was one of the best productions I have ever seen…and I have seen a lot of plays.

From the moment you enter the theatre, you are transported back to the demi-monde of a seedy German nightclub of the 1930’s.

The acting, the staging and the music were outstanding.

I have seen shows receive standing ovations at the end of a performance but Jessie Buckley earned one DURING the show.

So, of course, I have been telling everybody about what a wonderful wife I have.

And recommending the play to my family and friends.

I don’t know about you, but I normally am a bit wary about over-praising something I have enjoyed.

At the back of my mind is the thought that maybe it was just me that enjoyed it so much.

I might think a book, play, film, CD is brilliant but…

How far do I want to be responsible for them paying for something, only to be disappointed and let down?

This time, I had no hesitation.

It clearly wasn’t just me because I could see the reactions of the entire audience.

Similarly, when previous clients wnat to recommend me, they cna be sure that the recommendation is not all down to them.

They can direct their friends to the many other delighted clients who have left video reviews.
