Restaurant Magic at Adnan’s Restaurant Hyde
Just back from a delightful afternoon performing restaurant magic for the owner, staff and guests at the award winning Adnan’s Indian Restaurant in Hyde. The restaurant is owned by Mr. Mizanur Mizan. He is a kind man with many talents. As well as running Adnan’s, he is a former international hockey player and a journalist for Sky. However, most impressive is the way he has raised the money to build an eye hospital in Bangladesh.
Miznaur is a keen member of Tameside Rotarians. I shall be performing restaurant magic at a charity event he is co-organizing with them to raise money for a wig centre for people undergoing cancer treatment. The idea is that if somebody needs a wig they will be able to go to a salon (several have already volunteered their services), have a pamper treatment and make their choice there. Everybody agrees that this would be far less stressful than yet another visit to the hospital. This unit will be for patients attending Christie’s. I hope to be blogging more about this in the near future.
This afternoon’s meeting was about the possibility of me performing close up restaurateur magic for his guests at Adnan’s. After we chatted for a while, we discovered we both had a mutual interest in supporting eye charities. Mine is Sightsavers. Miznaur explained how they have made donations to the eye hospital he worked to create in Bangladesh.
I performed some close up magic for Miznur (including harnessing his mental energies to bend a coin between his hands). I then gave a short performance for some of his most loyal customers.
All in all, a delightful, afternoon.
