I was petrified As the song goes. And for many, starting to use Zoom was, shall we say, a tad intimidating.   Then, we got used to it and suddenly we’re loving it.   But now, after all these lockdown months of Zooming family and friends…what’s left to talk about? “So, what have you been up to?” “Ironed my socks.” How long 40 minutes can seem when,12 months on,you are hunting for fresh conversation with the people we love and

No, we can’t have the usual gang over during lockdown for a sophisticated dinner party…   …or having a bite to eat as it is more commonly known. Luckily, you know that the arrival of Zoom means that we don’t need to condemn ourselves to a life of social isolation. So you think: I’ll just schedule a  Zoom meeting with some friends and we can all share a meal virtually. Then you think: I know. I’ll arrange for some online

Each prepares one dish.  Somebody acts as courier, dropping off and picking up dishes. Once home, dinners can be warmed and the Zoom meeting started up. Before, during and after the meal there are plenty of opportunities for games, quizzes etc.  And, if you fancy a bit

My party is too small for a Magician “My party is too small to make it worth booking a magician.” This is something you may be thinking if you are arranging a small  party for less than 20 people. Perhaps it is a special birthday but you don’t want to book a hall and invite everybody you know. Not everyone enjoys the fuss and attention of a large party. Not everybody has a budget that will stretch to a hall,

I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at the Wycliffe Hotel entertaining Doreen and her guests. Everybody gathered to celebrate her 90th birthday. Doreen -or Dors as she is known to her family- is inspirational. She is sprightly, engaging and has a lively mind. You think to yourself: I hope that’s how I will be if I make it to my nineties. By the time I arrived they had finished eating. The staff, who were efficient and extremely helpful, were serving coffee.
